How do we invest?
As PKO VC fund, we aim to invest in start-ups from OECD countries, with a special focus on Central Europe.
We generally look for companies that provide the prospect of above-average returns. We pay particular interest to projects from sectors that have the possibility of synergies with the Bank: fintech, insurtech, e-commerce, IT, cybersecurity, healthtech, greentech (ESG), as well as IoT.
We have more than PLN 200 million of capital under management. We invest in startups that are in the 'growth' phase, i.e. have already achieved market success and which are now actively looking for capital for international expansion. The average value of the Fund's investments is €1-5 million, with the possibility to participate in subsequent investment rounds on a follow-on basis.
We strongly prefer to invest in consortiums with other investors (funds). We have a long-term investment time horizon of 3-6 years from investment.
Thanks to the Bank's overall scale, experience and infrastructure, we have possibilities to support our portfolio companies in their market success. We generated impressive returns for all investors in our portfolio companies by executing our first investment exits, i.e. the sale of Applica.ai to Snowflake and Telemedi to Mavie.
